The MOBO Awards will be returning to London after a five-year absence.

The annually held black music awards show will be taking place October 22nd at the SSE Arena, Wembley.

The urban music brand’s move back to the capital was announced late last week.

Founder of the MOBOs, Kanya King MBE stated:

“We are thrilled to have the awards returning home this year, even more so after our newly signed three-year agreement with ITV a few weeks ago.

“I am excited about the strength of this year’s nominees who will be announced later this month after which the public will be invited to vote for their favourite acts. The show on October 22 promises to be absolutely spectacular and will hopefully inspire a lot of young talent.”

The awards show has featured some of the world’s most well-established acts, including; Jay-Z, Kendrick Lemar, Destiny’s Child, Lauryn Hill, Naughty Boy, Tinie Tempah, Eminem, Ms Dynamite and Emeli Sandé amongst others.
Earlier this year the BBC announced it would no longer be covering the MOBOs, due to cost-cutting. However, in mid-August last month ITV signed a three-year deal to screen the program on it’s most popular digital station ITV2, as well as broadcasting highlights on ITV’s prime channel.
Tickets for the event are available here.
